Importance of Good Fit
Saddle fitting is extremely important for both the comfort and welfare of the horse, as well as the effectiveness and safety of the rider.
Comfort and welfare of the horse is crucial, a poorly fitted saddle can cause pain, discomfort, and even long-term health problems for the horse. Pressure points, pinching, or rubbing caused by an ill-fitting saddle can result in soreness, muscle atrophy, and even behavioral issues.
Saddle fitting extends beyond merely the saddle itself; it's about offering solutions until we attain the optimal outcome. We also consider the saddle's compatibility with the rider and how external factors may impact the fit.
Saddle Fitting Process
Being Saddle Fitting Consultants and Equine Physical Therapists we can offer the care, insight, and expertise required to provide solutions to the many problems that face the horse and rider, be it the happy hacker or the serious competitor.
During a saddle fitting consultation, the riders profile and horse is assessed, making note of any asymmetry or muscle atrophy before proceeding to the ridden assessment. It is vital to monitor how the horse, saddle, and rider perform and interact with each other, both while standing still, and during movement. Your instructor's involvement is welcomed during this time if you wish.
On-site checks and adjustments to your existing saddle, including flocking, can be carried out, as well as advice on the fitting and purchasing of new and second-hand saddles.

Equine Physical Therapist & Saddle Fitter
The Saddle Fitting Therapist has always had one goal and that is equine well-being. This mindset stemmed over 15 years in the industry from training horses to teaching and competing both in the UK and Ireland.
As a horse owner during this time, I found a huge lack of services targeting welfare through Equine Body Work and Saddle Fitting. I made the decision to get my first qualification over 5 years in Equine Physical Therapy which has stood as the foundation of our company to this day. It was only when working with cases all over Ireland that I really started to figure out a common issue causing major discomfort in horses and that was ill-fitting saddles. Naturally the next mission was to get qualified as a Saddle Fitter (which was no easy task) in the UK. The fusion of Physical Therapy and Saddle Fitting comes into play every day and we feel our clients get more from each visit.
Being the only Saddle Fitter/ Equine Physical Therapist in Ireland is a privilege and it has been a huge joy working with a large range of clients nationwide and making many friends along the way.
